I’m Melinda Highton, a California native and Berlin-based freelance producer and sound recordist. I’ve always been interested in film and music, and received a Bachelor of Arts in Cinema and Media Studies at the University of Washington Seattle, however it wasn’t until I moved to Berlin in 2019 that I considered a proper career in the film industry.

I began producing small music videos and short films while also taking any and all opportunities to work on sets as an AD, set design assistant, PA, or driver, before stepping up to advertisements. In 2022, upon being offered a position as the sound recordist, despite no previous experience outside of my own personal projects at home, I jumped at the chance to begin an additional career in sound recording.

I take great pride and joy in my work, and I cherish not only being able to consistently meet so many other creatives and artists who value the creative process just as equally as the final product, but also in getting to explore new methods of creating, building, and enhancing the art of film and music.
